The Route - Forman to Moorefield
October-December 2008 Status:
Construction is underway along the 14.3-mile section from Forman to Moorefield. A 3-mile section from US 220 to the WV 55 interchange was opened to traffic in November 2005.
Construction of two grade and drain contracts in Hardy County (one on each side of the South Branch Potomac River) that began in September 2005 was completed in early 2007, and in late summer 2007. The construction of the South Branch Potomac River Bridge began in the fall of 2006 and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2009. Construction of two additional grade and drain contracts in Grant and Hardy Counties, west of the South Branch Potomac River, began in late summer 2006 and is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2008. The construction contract for a 10.4-mile paving project from Patterson Creek to the South Branch Potomac River Bridge was awarded in July 2008 and construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2008.
The WVDOH anticipates that the Forman to Moorefield section will be open to traffic in fall 2010.
